Chestertown is a small town located in Kent County, Maryland. It is positioned in the Eastern Shore region of Maryland and is located about 80 miles east of Baltimore and 80 miles east of Washington, District of Columbia. As of 2016, there were about 5,000 people living in Chestertown. It is the largest city in Kent County.

Chestertown is located in an area of Maryland that was originally inhabited by Native American Indians. In 1706, Europeans arrived in the area and founded the town. Chestertown grew in popularity after it was named one Maryland’s six Royal Ports of Entry when Maryland was an English colony. Almost one-hundred years later, Chestertown became an incorporated town. Chestertown is the namesake of the nearby Chester River.
